Mr Yi Chen
Dr Yi Chen is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon located in Melbourne and consultant at Monash Health. Yi completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Melbourne and his basic physician training and additional cardiothoracic training a the Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Alfred Hospital, Monash Health and Austin Hospital.
Following this, Yi commenced his PhD studies at the Monash University focusing on “Activin A, expression and potential source in cardiopulmonary bypass and myocardial ischaemia reperfusion injury” under the guidance of Professor Julian Smith, Dr David Phillips and Associate Professor Mark Hedger. He recently completed a two-year Fellowship in Robotic Cardiac Surgery and TAVR at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr Chen has been highly recognised for his achievements and research with a number of prestigious scholarships and awards. He was most recently awarded the RACS Hugh Johnston ANZ Chapter Travelling Fellowship to American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in Washington, DC in 2016.
Dr Chen has also contributed to education and research in numerous clinical teaching roles for doctors and medical students at the Southern Health University, Monash University and University of Washington. He also delivers his research and findings in research journals, publications, and presentations.
