Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
A transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive medical procedure that delivers a new valve in the heart. TAVR is usually recommended when one of the major valves becomes severely narrowed resulting in blood flow to the body being compromised. The procedure is performed via the groin under local anaesthesia and sedation. Our structural interventional cardiologist who performs TAVR is an international expert and will ensure that the procedure is performed to a high standard using pioneering medical devices and therapies. Following the procedure, there will be a period of recovery and rehabilitation on the cardiology ward.
