Dr Sheran Vasanthakumar

Dr Sheran Vasanthakumar is a Melbourne-based doctor working in cardiology and internal medicine, with clinical experience in major health services including Austin Health. 

He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Monash University, followed by postgraduate clinical training within the Victorian hospital system. 

Dr Vasanthakumar is also actively involved in cardiovascular research, with affiliations to leading institutions including: 

  • Victorian Heart Hospital (Monash Health) 
  • Monash University 
  • Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute 

His research and clinical interests include: 

  • Cardiovascular disease in women, including sex-specific risk factors  
  • Coronary artery disease and cardiac risk stratification 
  • Population health and emerging cardiovascular risk markers 

He has contributed to peerreviewed publications in areas such as female-specific cardiovascular risk factors, coronary disease, and cardiovascular imaging markers, supporting improved awareness and earlier detection of heart disease.
